Cynthia Johnson is the Vice President of Urban Radio Promotions at Epic Records. Affectionately referred to as ”CJ” began her radio promotion career with brief stints at MCA, Arista, and Motown Records before landing a regional promotion position at Columbia Records. At Columbia Records, Cynthia rose through the ranks from Regional Promotion Manager/Midwest to Senior Vice President in New York during her 11 years at the company. In her radio promotion capacity, Cynthia obtained airplay for the label’s artist roster at urban and urban adult contemporary radio. She executed local and national campaigns for artists such as: Mariah Carey, Destiny’s Child, Jagged Edge, Bow Wow, Lauryn Hill, The Fugees, Nas, and Maxwell to name a few. Cynthia segued to J Records in the position of Vice President/ Urban Promotion in working with Alicia Keys, Busta Rhymes, and Luther Vandross. She then moved to Senior Vice President, Urban Promotion at Warner Brothers Records promoting Eric Benet, Brian McKnight, and Crunk artists Crime Mob, Trillville, and Lil Scrappy. 2007 brought about a move to Interscope Records and a return to Columbia Records in 2011 in the capacity of Vice President, Urban Promotion working Beyonce’s critically acclaimed albums “4” and “Beyonce” garnering 3 #1 singles from both projects, and Beyonce’s #1 album “Lemonade”. Other acts include John Legend’s record breaking #1 smash “All of Me”, record breaking #1 “Happy” and “Lemon” by Pharrell, #1 singles from J. Cole, Juicy J, DeJ Loaf and Maxwell. Her radio promotion & marketing company, Aloro Marketing boasts a roster of clients like HBO, Epic Records, Roc Nation, Powerbase Music, Lecrae, John Legend, Maxwell, and new artist Cash Wavy, Ray Rich and Bakir Floyd. CJ graduated from Notre Dame with a BA in Marketing.
